About Lindsey Mathias Design (LMD) and the role
LMD is a specialized luxury interior design firm located in uptown Dallas, Texas. We are currently engaged in several long-term, high-end residential projects, and actively pursuing additional work.
We are seeking an experienced Junior Interior Designer to join our team. The position requires the ability to work through all phases of a project and candidates should have exemplary design, technical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
In collaboration with our principal and/or lead designer, the Junior Designer will help to drive the execution of design from conception through execution and to completion. The Junior Interior Designer will:
- Assist the lead designer in choosing and preparing visual materials for presentations
- Provide support in field measures and oversight
- Coordinate and track sample requests, deliveries, and returns
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including meeting notes, proposals, purchase orders, budgets, and specifications
- Prepare and provide weekly status reports to the lead designer
- Coordinate with other office functions including sourcing materials and furnishings, and library organization
Qualifications
The candidate’s personal style and portfolio should be self-starting, engaging, and collaborative, and design effort should be thoughtful, align with the overall design aesthetic, and be extremely detail-oriented. Candidates should have a passion for excellent client service and design, as well as:
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience managing various aspects of interior design (residential or commercial)
- Strong interpersonal skills - maturity to interface with staff, vendors, contractors, and clients
- Thorough understanding of scale, proportion, and spatial planning
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and multi-task
- Experience in client and vendor relations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of sourcing materials, furnishings, and finishes with a keen eye for design aesthetics and quality
- Ability to handle working on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- College degree in Interior Design is preferred but not required
- Furniture specification and procurement experience
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office - Proficient (Excel)
- AutoCAD - Proficient
- Adobe Creative Suite
- HouzzPRO project management (IVY, Studio Designer, or similar)
- Some Revit Knowledge is preferred but not required
- Sketch Up – proficiency and/or familiarity a plus
- Initially looking for 20-30 hours a week on a consistent weekly schedule
- Hybrid setting (ability to work from home occasionally) with a fun office in the uptown area of Dallas
- Competitive hourly wage available, and potential annual bonus opportunity based on experience and skill set
